An airport is simultaneously a regulated safety environment, a border post, a shopping centre, a construction site and a logistics hub. The manager's job is to hold all of that together against a fixed constraint: the runway cannot close and the flights cannot stop.
The role spans airside safety and compliance, terminal operations and passenger experience, commercial revenue from retail and concessions, capital projects, and coordination with regulators, airlines, ground handlers, immigration, customs and security agencies.
It suits people who like systems and people in equal measure, and who can hold a five-year capital plan and a broken baggage belt in mind at the same time.

IATA/ACI airport operations and safety management qualifications.
Duty Manager → Operations Manager → Airport Manager.
